About
The League
Fun, welcoming, at times hostile — and always competitive.
BLACKOUTMKE Golf League exists to provide a fun, welcoming, at times hostile, and competitive league where you can enjoy time drinking, playing golf with friends, and taking your frustrations out on a beautifully manicured patch of land. We aim to represent the pureness of golf — one shotgun at a time.
Founded by Michael King, the BGL is a one-person-team league: just you, your handicap, and whatever you talked yourself into on the first tee.
The basics
- · Annual league dues are $50, due before the season tees off.
- · You must be a Pro Status member of TheGrint app ($39.99/yr) — it tracks every score and your official USGA handicap.
- · Play is handicap-based, so being bad actually works in your favor (30 handicap max per tournament).
- · Only your top 4 tournaments plus the season-ending Tour Championship count toward your final tally.
- · Course and cart fees are on you the day you play.
Majors & the Black Jacket
The Amateurs Tournament and the Orlando Open Championship are the league's two majors. Win the Amateurs and you take home the coveted BLACKOUTMKE Black Jacket.
Payouts
- · 1st place — 50% of the season pot.
- · 2nd place — 25% of the season pot.
- · 3rd place — $40 back to cover your TheGrint membership.
House rules
- · Tee-shot mulligans are allowed — but only after a shotgun.
- · Don't clear the ladies' tees? Shotgun before your next shot.
- · Everyone shotguns at the turn, before teeing off on #10.
- · Max score on any hole is 4-over — pick up and keep it moving.
- · $5 closest-to-the-pin challenge on the last par 3.
And seriously — never drink and drive.
